Cooking Time: 15-17 minutes
Ingredients
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 400F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. 2. According to your puff pastry package directions, unfold the sheet of puff pastry. It may need to be dusted with flour and rolled with a rolling pin for smoothness. (Or, roll out puff pastry to a large rectangle, depending on the type you purchase.) 3. Follow directions on puff pastry package, you may need to room it out so that it is a large rectangle. 4. Use heart-shaped cookie cutter and cut out 6 hearts from the pastry. If you do not have a heart-shaped cookie cutter you can use another shape, or use a knife and cut rectangles. 5. Place pastry pieces on a cookie sheet at least 1 inch apart. Score a border ½ inch from the edges (do not cut all the way through the dough). Prick the center of the dough all over with a fork and set baking sheet in the fridge to keep cool. 6. In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese and strawberry jam. 7. In another small bowl make an egg wash by whisking the egg and water. 8. Remove baking sheet from fridge and dollop each pastry with a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture. Spread it within the scored area and put strawberries on top of the mixture. Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg wash. 9. Bake pastries for 15-17 minutes, or until edges are puffed and golden brown. Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar (optional). Serve warm!
